AC, who is one of our clients and is 92 years of age, is partially sighted and gets Bankie Talk Talking Newspaper each week. She heard about the charity about 18 months ago through an event and got in touch with the then Chairperson.

When she first received a recording is was on a CD player but we have now progressed to memory sticks. As she did not have the means of a connecting point through her TV etc, Bankie Talk supplied her with a special piece of equipment in which the memory stick can be inserted. What she likes about this is she can move it around the house or even sit in the garden and AC is very grateful to Bankie Talk for suppyling this “boom box”.

AC likes to hear about the news and what’s going on in Clydebank and the surrounding area. There is a weekly quiz, which she particularly likes, and a poem to listen to. At the introduction each week, the names of the volunteers are read out and she now has voice recognition with the readers. She particularly likes the light hearted approach by them at the beginning of the recording. Receiving/ returning the memory sticks in a wallet is user friendly by turning the label over. This wallet is also used to send out an audio book to the clients which Ann is enjoying listening to.

AC knows that she can phone our number if she has a problem and is glad that we keep in contact with her as a client of Bankie Talk.

BL, who is registered blind, has carers in during the mornings. she is very happy overall with the services of Bankie Talk.

I chatted with BL and asked if there was anything that we could do to improve our services for her or if she had any ideas or any input on what she would like to receive from the service. She kindly said that “she wasn’t very good at that” – she likes it all and is very happy with what we do.

BL likes to keep up with the news and what is going on. She is unable to buy newspapers because she cannot see them so is appreciative that she can listen at her leisure on the ‘goings on’ of Clydebank.

She finds all the readers to be nice, lovely and clear – no differentiation on any of the readers, she finds them all to be the same. She has a hearing aid to help her hear.

BL is very happy with the wallets and how easy they are to use. All she does is turn the label over and post the wallets back.

Bankie Talk take a short break in the summer and at Christmas, and BL is happy that we take a break, sayiing that “everyone needs a break”.
